The glorious promise of a new day
Morning Has Broken: The glorious Promise of a New Day
The glorious promise of a new day. A new beginning. May we look beyond the chill and fog of the day and go forth in victory, taking advantage of the endless opportunities we are given in this one day that will never be given again.
The morning I took this photo was very chilly and foggy. It was the kind of dawning that made me feel like curling up all day with a cup of tea and a book. It was also a bit discouraging because the garden vegetables were not appreciating the unusually cold weather. Some days are just like that. They don’t seem to hold much promise at all. Some seasons in our lives are like this too. We wonder if the burdens and worries we have today will ever pass by and if we will ever have the victory.
We are not called to look ahead and know our future. God calls us to live today in the knowledge that a light far greater than the sun is our guide. Morning breaks each day filled with promise even though that promise may be behind the fog for now. In Romans 13:12-14, Paul tells us the day is at hand. He instructs his readers to put on the armor of light, to walk as if it were day. This section sometimes reminds me of the Dr Seuss book Great Day for UP with its line “The sun is up so up with you.” If the sun was up in Paul’s day it is risen even further now. Let us be about the business of living life to the glory of God.
